Privacy Policy

In short: your documents are processed entirely in your browser and never leave your device. We don't see, upload, or store them. Like most websites, we do collect a small amount of standard data — mostly through advertising partners — which we explain below.
1. Your documents stay on your device
PDF Utils is a 100% client-side tool. When you split, merge, or convert a file, it is read into your browser's memory and processed in a Web Worker. It is never uploaded to a server, never stored, and we cannot see its contents. Closing the tab removes it from memory.
2. What we collect
Because your documents never reach us, the data involved is limited to standard website metadata:
- Advertising data. We may show ads served by Google AdSense and similar partners. They use cookies and similar technologies to measure ad performance and, where you've consented, personalize ads. This can include your IP address, cookie or advertising identifiers, browser and device information, and pages you view.
- Analytics (if enabled). We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic in aggregate (e.g. pages viewed, approximate location, device type).
- Server logs. Our static hosting provider may keep basic logs such as IP address, user-agent, and requested URL for security and operations.
3. What we don't collect
- Your files or their contents.
- Account, email, or password information — there are no accounts.
- Payment details — the service is free.
4. Third parties
Advertising is provided by third parties, primarily Google. They may combine the data described above with information they already hold. Please reviewhow Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services andGoogle's Privacy Policy.
5. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA and UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise ad-related choices directly:
- Use the cookie banner on this site to accept or reject advertising cookies.
- Manage Google ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.
- Adjust your browser's cookie settings to block third-party cookies.
6. Data retention
Your documents are retained for zero seconds — they never leave your device. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period. Data collected by advertising partners is governed by their own retention policies.
7. Children
This service is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 where required), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we change how ads or analytics work. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
